J.B.'S SIGNS U.S. DISTRIBUTION DEAL
Toronto, ON - August 29, 2005 - Toronto's most anticipated rapper J.B.has signed a distribution deal with Fontana, Universal in the United States. The deal means J.B.'s long awaited album "My Environment" will be released in Late March, 2006 across North America.
The album will include a lead off single featuring Aftermath recording artist The Game. It also includes features by Dipset recording artist JR Writer, Dru from the Juno award-winning R&B group In Essence and others.
This will be J.B.'s first solo venture. He has two prior critically-acclaimed albums released with G.C.P. "The Turf's Hot" and "Crime Connects" gave J.B. the reputation of representing for one of Toronto's toughest neighbourhood: Flemington Park. He brings that same street sense and vitality to his current work.
The distribution deal came after J.B. was introduced to Hakim Taylor from TF Dynasty. Taylor, who also manages BET's Mad Linx, recognized J.B.'s talent and set up a meeting with Nigil Mack of Sugar Water Records. Negotiations began immediately and Mack secured adistribution deal with Fontana within weeks.
Fontana Distribution was set up by Universal as its independent distribution company. "At Sugar Water / Fontana / Universal, we're very excited about the upcoming release of J.B's album "My Environment" in the States," saysMack.
2005 has been a busy year for J.B. He completed his first cross-Canada tour alongside The Game, recorded a promo spot for MuchVibe and was able to solidify his own record company: G.C.P Recording Corp. At the same, he released a follow-up to his widely popular single "Ey Yo" which was the top Canadian song on urban radio for 12 weeks.
The new single, "Whatcha Need" is currently blazing Canadian radio and the video is featured in numerous Canadian and U.S. "mix-dvds."It will also be serviced to MuchMusic in Canada and B.E.T. in early spring. The video features numerous cameos, including one by childhood friend Jamal Magloire of the Charlotte Hornets. J.B. is also scheduled to make an appearance on B.E.T.'s Rap City in Spring 2006.
